Introduction

What. The Influx Project is an initiative to get the public back behind the aims, ideals and efforts of the United Nations by seeing which nations really want it to succeed.

How. This is done simply by recording and publishing interest in a better UN from people from different countries. This provides the basis for an exchange of ideas and a potential source of extra funding for the UN’s work. See World Statistics

Who. Governments working alone do not have the capability of making the UN work. The support of individuals -you- is the missing ingredient that is the difference between a good UN and a great one. It can only be as good as we make it. See Helping

Why Influx Matters. The UN structure that remains since its conception in 1945 does exhibit a number of design flaws. There are 10 weaknesses which are addressed by the Influx Project and your involvement. See Problems and Solutions

Why UN Matters.. The UN targets our daily concerns including environmental issues, conflict resolution, collective security, human rights and inequality. It is our best hope for a fairer world and we all have a part to play in creating a fairer UN. See UN, Our View
Objectives

This is what the Influx Project aims to achieve and to become with your participation:

In the Short Term 0<1yr:
Together with your help we aim to develop this site as the most effective and enjoyable means for the UN and the wider public to understand and serve one another.

  • We seek to have at least one registered user from each of the 192 member nations of the UN.
  • We aim to provide funding for the Millennium Development Goals through our pledge system and through donations

In the Medium Term: Yrs 2-5
We aim to continue educating the public about the UN and educating the UN about the public, by working to improve our service along lines suggested by you, our users.

  • We aim to raise $10,000,000 per yr.

In the Long Term: Yrs 5 >
We aim to be recognised formally as the primary means of interaction between civil society and the UN.

  • We aim to have enough registered users to match the largest national contribution to the UN (approx $3bn/year, USA).
